Hamilton's iconic indoor market has been running since 1837. With 50+ vendors year-round, it's the market to count on in September, October, and November. Expect autumn apples, squash, preserves, local honey, and artisan baked goods. Arrive before 10 AM on Saturdays for the best selection.
A dependable Saturday staple with a neighbourhood feel, and one of only two local markets still running into November. Local produce, fall squash, baked goods, and prepared foods. The surrounding Ottawa Street district is worth exploring afterward.
Ancaster's midweek market at the historic Memorial Arts Centre, running through the first week of October. A friendly village gathering with local produce, baked goods, preserves, and artisan vendors against a heritage backdrop.
A beloved Thursday-afternoon market in the heart of Dundas village, running through mid-October. Perfect for fall picking on the way home, apples, squash, preserves, and seasonal produce. Pair it with a stroll through Dundas's independent shops and cafés.
The go-to Saturday market for the Binbrook community, held at the Fairgrounds through October. A true gathering spot for families, with local produce, fall bounty, and room for kids to run. Nearby Binbrook Conservation Area is lovely in autumn colours.
Downtown Stoney Creek's Friday market closes out its season on October 9. Local growers, fall produce, prepared food, and a charming heritage-street setting. Great for Upper Stoney Creek families to stock up on the way home for the weekend.

A cherished agricultural fair running since 1852, open Thanksgiving weekend right in the Hamilton region. Livestock and horse shows, a midway, vendors, and classic fair food, a wonderful multi-generational family outing just 20 minutes from the Mountain.
A glowing, family-favourite autumn tradition: hundreds of hand-carved jack-o'-lanterns lining the Hendrie Park trails at dusk. Warm drinks, fireside seating, and pure seasonal magic. Tickets sell out, so book early via RBG.
The Festival of Lights is widely celebrated across Hamilton's South Asian communities in early November. Many temples, cultural associations, and community centres host open celebrations with rangoli, food, music, and fireworks, a wonderful way for families to experience the city's diversity.
Remembrance Day services are held at Legion branches and cenotaphs across Hamilton and the Mountain, including the downtown Gore Park cenotaph area. Check with your local Legion branch for the service schedule closer to the date. A quiet, respectful way to connect kids with local history.
Hamilton's Santa Claus Parade runs right on the Mountain each November, heading north on Upper Sherman Avenue from Acadia Drive to CF Lime Ridge Mall. The exact 2026 date is expected to be the second Saturday of November; watch hamiltonsantaparade.com for the official confirmation. A must for Mountain families.

Autumn is the Mountain's best season, apple picking, pumpkin patches, and spectacular fall colours.
One final long-weekend window to enjoy Hamilton's outdoor water park, wave pool, waterslides, and toddler splash area, before it closes for the season after Labour Day. Later-September visits are a no-go, so squeeze in a last swim the first week of September.
Pick-your-own apples and pears through September, then pumpkin and squash fields, a corn maze, wagon rides, and farm animals through October. Sweet cider and a hay jump round out the farm visit. Just up Hwy 6 from the Mountain, it makes an easy family afternoon.

Off-leash areas perfect for crisp autumn runs and leaf-crunching walks with your four-legged family members.
Autumn is the nicest time of year to explore off-leash on the Mountain, no summer heat, fewer crowds, and beautiful foliage. On-leash dogs can also enjoy the Bruce Trail and escarpment falls with the whole family. Keep pups on-leash around the waterfall viewing platforms and pick up after them in every park.
These are Hamilton Mountain's best off-leash areas, open all season for morning runs and crisp evening walks with your dog.
One of Hamilton's few fully fenced off-leash parks, ideal for puppies or dogs with unreliable recall. Medium-sized with potential small/large dog separation. Comfortable in the cooler fall months.
Gage Park's off-leash area has mature tree canopy, gorgeous as the leaves turn in October. Medium-to-large designated zone with open lawns. Keep dogs in the off-leash zone when passing the playground and splash pad.
An unfenced off-leash area perched on the escarpment with panoramic views of the lower city, breathtaking as the valleys show fall colour. Open grassy fields with clear sightlines, great for fetch. Voice control required; the escarpment edge is unfenced.
One of the few places in Hamilton where dogs can swim off-leash in Lake Ontario. Supervise closely, the water gets cooler and waves can pick up in the fall. Bring fresh water and rinse your dog at the outdoor showers before heading home.
One of Hamilton's most scenic dog spots. The large off-leash zone on the park's west side has ample room for fetch and running along the harbour, with golden autumn light over the water. Connects to the Waterfront Trail for a longer leashed walk.
